(FOUNDER) - Dog Walker, Pet Sitter & Transporter
I've always had a passion for animals. After leaving school early I soon jumped (fell!) into voluntary rescue work. Fast forward a few years down the line, with a wide range of experience under my belt I decided to set up Sunflower Paws in the summer of 2022, alongside running my two other businesses. It has grown from a 'side gig' to my 'small empire' rapidly and I'm pleased to say were on path for some exciting expansion plans within the coming years.
From dogs & cats to small animals, equines, cows, goats, pigs and chickens... I think it's fair to say I'm used to working in all weathers, doing all kinds of jobs and have come across many 'quirky' characters! I also have my own pup who loves attention, running at a million miles per hour, and her very special orange monkey toy!

"I had a wonderful time growing up with the most beautiful, playful Labrador “Jessie”. After she passed I decided to dedicate my life to animal care. Alongside university I started dog boarding in the Netherlands where I had the honour to work with hundreds of dogs of all shapes, sizes and personalities as well as other pets. Now living in the UK, I have the absolute pleasure to call myself part of Sunflower Paws team and can’t wait to meet you and your parents."

"I am a lifelong animal lover. Growing up I had pets and have learned first-hand the importance of providing proper care and attention to animals. In addition to my personal experience, I have volunteered at TAG pet rescue where I assisted with the care and rehabilitation of animals in need. This experience has taught me how to be patient, compassionate, and attentive to the needs of animals. I have a dog of my own, Ted, who is my world, so I understand the importance of providing a loving and safe environment for pets, and I am committed to ensuring that all animals receive the same level of care that I provide for my own.
Prior to working with Sunflower Paws, I have also dog sat and walked for friends and family, which has further developed my understanding of animal behaviour and needs. I am excited to meet all of your furry (or not so furry!) friends!"
ROSIE:

"I have always had a great love for all animals and have had a number of cats for many years. It has always been my dream to have a dog but while I waited for that moment to arrive, I dived into as many opportunities as I could, walking my boyfriend's dog for years and helping out with the family friends' 5 beautiful dogs as well as their many rescue farmyard animals. Our lovely rescue dog Hazel came to us just last year but it has been everything I have ever wanted and more. Hazel is giving us all a challenge in terms of her training and has pushed us, however, it’s all worth it for the lovely dog that she is. I am really looking forward to meeting and caring for your pets."

"Working with dogs has been one of my life's best decisions. Since I was little I enjoyed the company of animals, I grew up with cats and dogs in my family home, and always took an active interest in my friends dogs - I still walk some of their family pets today! Whilst travelling Australia in 2022 I was lucky enough to work in a variety of pet care roles such as doggy day care and grooming, which was where I realized my calling as an animal carer. Now back in the UK my full time job is with Dogs Trust in Canterbury where I take a hands on role of caring for the dogs' kennel cleanliness, feeding and keeping them active with enriching activities. I have been working with Sunflower Paws since March this year [2023] and have really enjoyed working with dogs in my local community to ensure they are exercised, fed and looked after when their parents aren't around."
MADDIE:

"Ever since I can remember, I have had a deep love for dogs. Their playful nature, loyalty, and unconditional love has always captured my heart. Currently, I am fortunate enough to have three dogs of my own and live with 2 more in my household, all of them being different shapes and sizes. My passion for dogs led me to work at a pet shop, where I gained a wealth of knowledge about their care, behaviour, and needs. However, my love for dogs goes beyond just basic knowledge... I am constantly seeking new information and expanding my horizons in dog knowledge by reading books, doing extensive research and talking to experienced dog owners. My goal is to become an expert in all things related to dogs and continue to provide the best care and love for these amazing creatures that have brought so much joy into their owners lives. I am looking forward to meeting and providing outstanding care your four legged friends!"
KATIE:

“I would say looking after pets is more of a passion than an interest or hobby for me. I have experience with a variety of animals due to growing up riding and loaning horses, plus three years studying animal care at college. At college I learnt not only how to care for dogs and cats, but also any small mammals, insects , amphibians, reptiles, aquatics and a few exotic species. I am starting university in September 2024 where I will be studying animal conservation and biology to further my knowledge and experience with animals, diving further into animal behaviour which is another one of my passions. I love all animals nervous or excitable and every day working at Sunflower Paws has been an absolute dream come true for me!”

Working at Sunflower Paws since March '23, we have loved taking on the role of emergency back-up cover, supporting Evie, the team, and most importantly you, the clients!"
